How To Keep Your Dog From Whining

by Terence

So you have a dog and you have issues with whining, barking, and howling. As soon as you leave, he creates a ruckus. Your neighbours complain that he is creating problems for the neighbourhood. If you live in a multi-family dwelling or an apartment building it’s worse! The dog will drive the neighbours in the surrounding apartment’s nuts! So how do you keep him from whining? Can it be fixed in a week or less? There are many ways to prevent a situation like this and the younger the dog the better they may be at re-adjusting to the surroundings.

A dog can be taught how to stop or start doing something quickly. He can be stopped from whining within a week or less if you just do things to comfort him.

The first thing you may want to do is try to find someone that can care for him if needed. A dog sitter is sometimes a great tool to utilize. If he is a puppy, a dog sitter is almost always necessary. If the dog sitter has other dogs, that’s a plus, because he will have other friends to play with. The second thing you could try when he has adjusted to staying home alone is leaving the music or the TV on low volume. If he has to stay at home then the training can be much more difficult. Try leaving an article of clothing with your scent with them where they lay, so they feel comfortable.

Make sure that your dog goes out frequently. In order to ensure that he gets exercise and ample potty breaks, make sure you have a hired dog walker or a friend who can walk him. Your dog will be happy to have someone visiting them on a regular basis when you’re not around. The dog and human bond is always very important. Another thing that you can do to prevent whining is to get him a friend. Whether it’s a dog, cat, bird, or even a baby…we all get lonely! Loneliness is an instinctual behavior.

We don’t want to feel alone and rejected. Dogs need to feel attention just like we do. So give him the much needed attention he craves before you leave, and talk to him, explaining you’ll be back soon.

Let’s review what can be done to stop whining:

So can the whining be stopped in a week? Yes it can. You can stop it within a week or less. First try ensuring you check that the dog’s needs are met before you leave. Always leave at around the same time and never deviate from change. Leave an article of clothing and a favorite toy for the dog for them to feel comfortable. Leave sound on so he can feel as if people are around. Make sure he has some sort of human interaction throughout the day.

Leash Training Your Dog

by Terence

Teaching my dog Ben to to walk on a leash, was quite a frustrating experience,  he was  very strong.

On a few occassions he  almost pulled me under a fast moving car.  It was becoming too dangerious for either of us to be on the road.

At this point I decded I would try to train him to walk on a leash, before he caused a serious accident.

A friend advised me to carry out these instructions and they worked exceedingly well…

You should start your leash training as soon as possible although, it will just take a little more time if your dog has an existing leash pulling problem.

Make it an easy decision for your dog to make – when he pulls on the leash you stand stil,  until he stops pulling,

when the leash is nice and loose he gets to move forward.  Each person who takes your dog for a walk must follow and enforce the same technique.

If your dog pulls and you keep walking he will know that he can continue like this and pulling gets him where he wants to go!!!
Each time my dog pulled I stopped walking. When he turned to me or walked back to me or the lead went loose I continued walking. Every time he pulled I stood still.

The results have been amazing. He knows now that as soon as the lead goes taught I will stop, so he makes sure that he steps back so that we can keep walking.

He is now a pleasure to walk… and walks on a loose lead.

A little patience and a lot of praise when your dog does as you ask…is the key to getting your dog to do almost anything you want them to do. click here if you would like more information on….leash training your dog

How To stop my Dog from barking

by Terence

In this quick article I want to tell you how I managed to finally stop my golden labrador from barking the house down every hour of the day….

This technique is 100% effective, I’ve found it works on every dog that it’s been tried on…and I’m certain it’ll work for you too…

I have two dogs – an Australian Shepherd and a Border Collie,  both from the Humane Society.  They are about 9 and 5 years old respectively.  They are good dogs,  but lately they had started this ….
I don’t know,  weird thing where it is like they were competing to see who could be the most obnoxious when someone comes to the door as well as whenever they were going to be let out.
In both cases they would go nuts by barking,  running and nipping each other as well as anyone unlucky enough to be trying to open the door.
It sounded like I had ten dogs instead of two,  plus they ran over my younger children in their race to be first to the door.

Calmly telling them to stop/and or to sit etc.. didn’t work.  Yelling didn’t work.  I didn’t want to hit them (mainly because by that time I was so angry I was afraid I’d hit them too hard).

I’d been looking into shock collars or the collars that sprayed citrus — but I didn’t know…it seemed harsh.  But then,  I could not allow this to continue.

I just didn’t know what to do,  having a couple of  dogs was something I’d always dreamed of,  but they were causing us nothing but sheer stress.

I had tried everything …clickers,  pleading…I even had a professional trainer around!!

Then one day I came accross this little known training tip that completely transformed my dogs behaviour….
And it’s almost unbelieveable what happened next…
Within just 7 days the barking was completely cured.
I know this sounds ridiculous, but it was just such a powerful
training technique.
This is how I stopped my dogs from barking and also
discovered a lot of new tips along the way.

Dog Urinating in House? Read This Now!

by Terence

Is your dog urinating in your house? and driving you crazy, then I’m about to explain how I managed to fix this problem.

My dog, Ben, was a golden labrador whom just couldn’t stop urinating all over the house, nothing was sacred to him he’d pee on the couch, the carpet, even legs of chairs…everywhere!  It was just driving me crazy.

It was only after I read a book on dog psychology that I understood the reasons that were causing it to happen and why he was behaving in such a way,  did I learn how to fix the problem!

Thankfully within a week,  Ben learned that outside the house was the place to go when he needed the toilet.

If your dog is urinating in the house and you feel it should stop as soon as possible, then you must read this report I have for you.  click here

”How to keep your dog in tip top shape”

by Terence
Ben being his Regal self

Grooming represents a very vital element in any dog’s life. It’s the best way to protect your dogs from getting sick. In short it’s the basic means for you to keep them in good physical shape. Other than that, it is also a good way of spending some quality time with your pet.

But how important is dog grooming? What are the things you should do to keep your dog clean? Is there a certain procedure you have to follow in grooming your dogs? How often would you groom your dogs? You will know all the answers to these questions when you read this article.

It is important that you groom your dogs regularly. The term “regularly” means that you do the dog grooming as it should be and as often as needed. Grooming your pet only implies that you’re concerned with his health. Pets are also like humans who need special care and attention. When you know that your dog is dirt free and well-groomed, then you can say that he’s in good shape.

Here are some pointers on how you can take good care of your dog’s overall hygiene:

1. Bathing

Bathing your dogs should not be done everyday for this can dry the skin of your pet. And once the skin of your dog becomes dry it will become susceptible to bacterial infections and hot spots. It is best if you will bathe your dogs using an aloe-based shampoo. Coat conditioners are also advisable. When bathing your pet, make sure that no water or soap gets in his eyes and ears. It is suggested that you clean the face with a sponge or washcloth.

2. Brushing.

Brushing your dog’s coat regularly is essential to keep the coat free from dirt and any infection. Experts recommend that you brush the coat by gently brushing at the head first, then down to the tail and legs. Follow the hair growth in brushing. By means of brushing the coat of your pet regularly, you would be able to keep his coat healthy and shiny all the time. What is being recommended by experts is to brush the coat several times week.

3.Trimming the nails.

In trimming the nails of your dogs, it is best to use clippers that are specifically designed for dogs. It is not advisable to use ordinary scissors for trimming the nails of your pet. When trimming, it would be best if you cut the nails after the dog’s bath. Cut the nail by holding the paw firmly. Then cut the nail in a single stroke. File the dog’s nail after trimming.

4. Cleaning the ears.

To prevent the dog from getting sick, you also need to clean his ears. A dog’s ear is considered to be infection-free if it is light pink in color. Clean the ears with a swab of cotton but be careful in doing this. If you see any sign of infection, then you should take your dog to a veterinarian.

5. Brushing the teeth.

Dental care is also of the essence in maintaining your dog’s good health. Use a toothbrush that has soft bristles. Make use of a veterinary toothpaste. This toothpaste is specially designed for your pet. It comes in different flavors that suit your pet’s taste. Never use human toothpaste or a baking soda in brushing the teeth of your buddy for they may lead to some dental health problems.

Overall, proper grooming is very important in keeping your buddy healthy and active. Regular grooming is required so as to prevent any health problem. Ask the advice of a veterinarian to know more about the dos and don’ts in dog grooming. You can also check out the Internet for more Cincinnati dog grooming information. Remember that grooming your dogs by the book is the best way to show how much you care for them.
